Dakar - Goree

Arrival and Welcome Dinner (2 Nights)

We start our trip with a city tour of the town. We will visit the colonial’s remains of what was the capital of French Africa: The Presidential palace, the Independence Place, the chamber of commerce. We will visit the local markets full of clothes and spices. Next stop is the African Monument of Renaissance and museum.

We'll transfer to the harbor where we will board a ferry to visit the island of Gorée (20 minutes away from Dakar). Gorée is an island of 300m wide and 900m long which long ago was the stake in numerous confrontations between the Portuguese, English, Dutch and French. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children were deported from Gorée. The "slaves’ house" with its door opened on the ocean is a terrible reminder of the cruelty of colonizers towards Africans. Visit of the Island and back to Dakar for a city tour of the town.

Lampoul - Toubacouta

Lac Rose | Lampoul Desert (2 Nights)

This morning you will go to Lac Rose to visit the famous Pink Lake* in 4X4 car, you will have the opportunity to observe how the locals harvest salt, their main source of livelihood, from the lake. Free Lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Okai Lodge, located between Lompoul and Diogo, about 200 km north of Dakar. This peaceful place, surrounded by some of Senegal’s most beautiful sand dunes, offers a relaxing stay that blends comfort with nature. You will stay in charming tents or bungalows, with the chance to enjoy a magical night under the stars in the Lompoul desert. There is also the possibility to take a camel ride and admire the sunset over the dunes, a unique and beautiful experience.

Gambia

Banjul (2 Nights)

After completing customs formalities at the border, continue to Barra, and take the ferry to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia. Lunch included. Nestled on an island, Banjul is a unique city with sandy streets, colonial-era architecture, a lively port, and a vibrant local market offering an authentic glimpse of urban West Africa. In the afternoon, explore the capital, Bakau and the Kathakali Crocodile Pool, which is considered a symbol of fertility, still visited by women seeking blessings for pregnancy. Visit Arch 22, then the National Museum focused on different aspects of the country: from archaeology to recent history, art, music and photography. Albert Market will offer a great opportunity to enjoy colorful Africa. Enjoy the rest of the time to relax at the hotel, on the beach at Bijilo.

Saloum - Saly

Saloum Islands, Joal Fadouth and Saly (2 Nights)

In the morning, transfer to Banjul port to board the ferry that will take us to Barra. We will drive back to Senegal. We might have the chance to see some local market named “Louma” on the way. Direction Palmarin in the heart of Saloum islands. Lunch on the way. Arrival and Installation in our hotel, the afternoon offers the possibility to explore the village by bicycle or horse carriage, try a kayak ride, or simply relax by the water in this peaceful natural setting.

For our last day before leaving the country, direction Ndangane, a peaceful Serer village. We will embark on a pirogue to meet the Serer people who fish in the tangle of islands and mangroves of the Saloum Delta National Park.
